It is important to note that there are times throughout the year that coming to this area are anything but Sensory Friendly. Bike Week, this year from May 13-22, brings with it thousands of Harley Davidson’s with most of the activity in Murrells Inlet. The rumble of the bikes is heard all throughout the day and night.
Black Bike Week, from May 26-30 this year, holds most of it’s activities in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, but again, there are thousands of bikes out and about day and night.
July and August–the high season here–is anything but Sensory Friendly. Hundreds of thousands of people flock to this area. Traffic is heavy, there are long lines and waits at attractions, businesses and restaurants and it is HOT, HOT, HOT.
We are working hard to educate the residents and business owners in Surfside Beach and the surrounding area to raise Autism Awareness, but suggest your experience will be much better if you schedule your visit around the Bike Week’s and consider not coming in July and August.
